OGLESBY (1824 - 1899) 1p. 8vo., Lincoln, Il., Nov. 5, 1883, to President Arthur concerning an appointment for a Mr. John Hay as judge of the court of claims. Second, war-date partly-printed A.L.S. by BENJAMIN F. SMITH (1831 - 1868) adding rank, 1p. oblong 8vo., [n. p.], 1862, on American Telegraph sheet to the telegraph operator at North Mountain, Va., in full: ""Is the 126th Ohio still camped at North Mountain""?. In pencil is the reply, ""Answer Headquarters defenses [of] Washington."". Minor staining on verso, else very good. Third, war-date A.L.S. by AUGUSTUS MOOR (1814-1883) adding rank, 1p. oblong 7"" x 3 1/2"", Buckhannon, Mar. 24, 1863, in full: ""Received your letter - am glad of the completion of Fort Moor and your confidence in its defense. Have every thing of value stored within - Keep scouts employed."".
