UNCOMMON BLUE JADE FREE-FORM
UNCOMMON BLUE JADE FREE-FORM
Nephrite
Petaluma, California
A striking example of a rare mineral, this enticing free-form curves around in almost a smile-like shape, with a small aperture at its centre. Found in only one location, in Marin County, California, blue nephrite jade was first discovered in 1950 by a California State geologist named Vonson. The Vonson Blue was immediately popular, but as suddenly as it appeared on the collector's market, it equally abruptly vanished again, supposedly because the owner of the dairy farm where it was found had become tired of devious rock-hounds sneaking onto his property to make off with these highly prized samples. This 7¼ x 5 x 1½ inch specimen, with simple metal display stand, represents a rare opportunity to obtain an excellent example of a much sought-after mineral.

Shipping: Requires 3rd Party Shipping (view shipping information)
