UMAYYAD: Ishaq Ibn Muslim Ibn Rabi'a Al-'Uqayli (738-), AE Fals (3.46g), Arminiya (Transcaucasia), AH 132. Obverse margin "bism Allah mimma amara al-amir Ishaq Ibn Muslim" (In the name of Allah, from what was ordered by the commander Ishaq Ibn Muslim). Walker-749. Very fine. Extremely rare.

Ishaq Ibn Muslim Ibn Rabi'a Al-'Uqayli governed Arminiya around AH 132. He was a staunch supporter of the Umayyads against the Abbasid revolution and a close supporter of the last Umayyad caliph Marwan II. After the Umayyad defeat, he finally came to terms with the Abbasids.

Even though it is not of high condition, it still has better condition than the two specimens that appeared in auction, the higher condition of which, still poorer in condition than our specimen, sold in Busso Peus Auction 407/408 (lot 1280) for 220 EUR.
