Directing the military strategy that successfully concluded the American Civil War, this Union general became the eighteenth President of the United States (1869-77). Cabinet photograph by Taber, San Francisco. Boldly signed beneath image, “<i>U. S. Grant</i>,” in brown ink. Mount evidences scattered light foxing; two light stains touching image; occasional light scoring and wear; o/w VG. Accompanied by presentation TLS to Major General <b>Charles P. Summerall</b> at Ft. Shafter, Oahu, Apr 27, 1922, from [Brigadier General Ret] <b>John H. Soper</b>. Following an address given by Summerall on the occasion of General Grant’s birthday anniversary, Soper transmits this image with interesting personal comments regarding the illustrious Civil War general’s “<i>moral strength and inherent courage...exemplified to a superlative degree by the dogged determination with which he stuck to the task of completing his Memoirs while the deadly disease was eating its way slowly and inexorably into is vitals</i>” when <i>“finally his defensive collapsed, he ‘unconditionally surrendered.</i>” Excellent association.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
