UDET, ERNST
1094. ERNST UDET (1896 - 1941) German aviator and combat flyer. Flying a Fokker D.III, he scored his first victory on March 18, 1916 in a lone attack against 22 French aircraft, later racking up 61 more victories. Udet was the highest scoring German ace to survive World War I. Rare signed postal cover honoring the 1931 National Air Races in Cleveland, boldly signed in full. Also signed by fellow racer PHOEBE OMLIE and fighter pilot WALTER B. WANAMAKER, whose signature crosses both Udet's and Omlie. Very good to fine. $100-150
