U.S. musket by M. T. Wickham, Philadelphia, dated 1831, converted to percussion, rifled by H&P, 1861. Serial #15 at breech, rifle sight added. Left side of breech stamped N.J. The metal surfaces show a grey to brown patina with some heavy dried oil, light to moderate scattered pitting and erosion, heavier pitting occurring at the firing areas of the breech. The bolster is also serial numbered 15. The stock is good, with typical mars, dings, slight imperfections, and is carved “ECB” over the trigger and behind the sideplate for identification. Original to the period ramrod is retained. Action good, bore very good and may clean to excellent. A scarce early Civil War arm. From the Bernard Braverman collection. Est: $900 - $1,800
