U.S. inspected Henry lever action rifle, .44 RF cal., 15 shot, 24” octagon barrel, brass frame, wood butt stock, #3116. This desirable Henry is in overall good condition showing an even brown patina on the barrel assembly, brass frame showing an old cleaning with a light taffy color patina returned to surfaces, “H” marks on both sides of frame at breech and an “H” and “C.G.C.” at the breech end of the barrel on the right side; frame shows no dovetail for a sight, rounded early brass butt plate, overall good bore, action and markings; rear barrel sight is an interesting old replacement; butt plate matches the gun’s serial number; wood stock is fair+ with a repaired crack from the wrist on both sides, extending across the length of the stock to the butt plate and showing another old repair via iron pins on the right side of the stock. Martial Henrys are scarce on the collector market as only around 1,700 were inspected and accepted into US service. This one falls into the early portion of the correct serial number range.
