U.S. contract flintlock military rifle by Johnson, .54 cal., 33-1/2” barrel, bright finish, full wood stock, three barrel bands, two sling swivels, flared iron ramrod, oval iron patchbox on the right side of the butt stock. This gun is in overall good condition showing a light grey patina on metal surfaces over scattered light areas of pitting and scattered erosion; J.D. Johnson marked on the top flat of the barrel at the breech and “P” proofed on the left flat of the barrel on th left side by the rear tang; the action is fair, the “US” is clear on the lock plate, there is a fixed rear sight and there is an iron combination tool in the iron covered patch box; the rear tang screw has been defaced; the wood is in overall good condition scattered nicks, mars and some edge and ramrod channel losses and a couple of old cracks around the lock plate. The bayonet in overall fair + condition and is marked “US” & “NS” on the blade flat at the base of the triangular device with leather sheath showing some flaking and folds but overall fair + and with brass throat and tip.
