U.S. Winchester Model 97 Takedown Trench Shotgun with Sling
This is an excellent example of a trench shotgun as used by the US Army and U.S.M.C. These takedown variations also were used in Korea and Vietnam. This shotgun has the correct ordinance bomb proof and U.S. markings on the left rear side of the receiver and the boxed "G.H.D. over the crossed cannon" ordnance cartouche on the left side of the buttstock. The left rear of the barrel is marked "MODEL 97 -WINCHESTER- / -TRADE MARK- 12 GA. 2 3/4 CHAM. / CYL.", the two line address/patent marking is on the opposite and the top at the breech is marked with an ordnance bomb and the oval Winchester proof. The barrel is equipped with the correct four hole handguard, bayonet lug and sling swivels. The shotgun is mounted with a grooved forearm and smooth pistol grip stock with a checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate and is complete with a webbed sling

Condition: Excellent. The shotgun retains 95% plus original blue finish with some high edge wear, a small area of minor spotting on the lower left front of the receiver and some scattered minor scratches. There is a spot of pitting present on top of takedown ring. The wood is also excellent with some scattered minor dents and dings, and crisp cartouches. The sling is excellent. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
