U.S. WWII Remington-Rand Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Documentation, Holster and Accessor
This is an excellent example of a 1944 production Remington Rand Model 1911A1 pistol once the personal sidearm of General Edward F. Wozenski. Wozenski was commissioned in the U.S. Army Reserve on June 9, 1937 and entered active duty on July 16, 1941. He was a Captain and commanded E Company, 16th Infantry, 1st Division on D-Day and was termed a WWII hero. His WWII campaigns included Tunsia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was highly decorated. Some of his medals included the Distinguished Service Cross, Bronze and Silver Star and Distinguished Unit Medal, just to name a few. He was appointed to the Connecticut National Guard on July 14, 1947, served in Germany with NATO forces during the Korean Emergency and retired at the rank of Brigadier General on June 1, 1972. The pistol has the standard left side slide and right side frame markings with a "22" stamped on the right rear of the slide behind the serrations. The right rear of the frame is marked with the crossed cannons, and the left side of the frame is marked with the "FJA" inspection mark directly below the slide stop and a "P" below the magazine release. Blue unmarked magazine, blue barrel and fitted with checkered brown plastic Keyes fiber grips with re-enforcing ribs. The pistol is complete with brown leather flap holster with "US" on the flap and marked "BOYT / -44-" on the back, green canvas belt and "US" marked first aid pouch with two original field bandages in the original box. There are also documents stating that the pistol and accessories belonged to General Wozenski and information regarding his active service.

Excellent. The pistol retains 95% of the original GI green parkerized finish with loss limited to some high edge wear. There is some minor pitting on the slide holdback lever. The grips are excellent with a few tiny chips on the checkering and some minor handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The mainspring housing is an incorrect U.S. 1911 variation. The belt, holster and pouch are all very good. The lid on the bandage box has separated, however remains in the pouch.
