SNIPER. Cal. 30/06. S# 3416207. Bbl. 24". Two groove bbl. marked behind front sight seat. RA flaming bomb "2-44". Bbl. was never fitted with front sight which is correct for these rifles. Rifle has the correct offset receiver markings. Punch mark on receiver ring below S#. Receiver has the correct bevel on right side behind bridge for bolt handle clearance. The clearance cut in the stock however was not done with arsenal type milling cutters. The cut appears to be done by hobbyist gunsmith workmanship using a gouge. Receiver drilled on top for Redfield Jr. 1 piece scope base which is fitted to rifle using 2 metal shims over the receiver ring. Base has the correct bevel at rear. Mounting screws have been staked at ends of screw slots. Base fitted w/ 7/8" rings to accommodate the telescopic sight. The scope is marked on top "MODEL 330 PATS.PEND.W.R. WEAVER CO. EL PASO, TEX., U.S.A.". Marked on right rear "TELESCOPE M73B1 SERIAL NO. 10854". Scope reticle is fine crosshair. Receiver bbl. & scope mt. have greenish Parkerized finish. Replacement “R” marked bolt is correct type but w/ Parkerized instead of blued finish. Blue bolt shroud, safety & cutoff are marked "R". All stamped furniture. Parkerized upper band marked "R". Balance of furniture is blued including sm. bow trigger guard & fine checkered trap buttplate. Replacement walnut stock set w/ late type full pistol grip. Stock is marked on left side over the trigger guard w/ boxed “OGEK”. This form of inspection mark was used at the Ogden Utah Arsenal by the well known firearms authority, Elmer Keith, who worked at that arsenal during WWII. Marked on left side of butt w/ boxed "RIA" & "EB" as a likely arsenal check & test. Marked underneath pistol grip w/ encircled "P"proof approx. 1/2" in diameter. End of pistol grip has circled “P” proof approx. 3/8" in diameter. Stock tip is marked w/ “5”. Stock fitted w/ 2 recoil bolts. Stock is marked underneath at toe "76". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: plastic oiler & butt. Brown leather scope caps w/ integral retaining strap. CONDITION: Stock set has nice appearance w/ crisp markings, scattered scratches & handling marks. Large circular approx. 3/4" diameter; repair on bottom right side of butt. Forward end of handguard has 3 brass reinforcing pins w/ faint trace of crack. Parkerized parts retain a high degree of finish showing very little wear. Bolt body has more notably thin finish. Blue furniture has very light wear.
