New York, New York. 186x (ca. 1860-1869). No denomination. Assistant Treasurer of the United States, Gold Coin Certificate of Deposit. Unissued, unsigned and uncancelled. Black border and vignette of allegorical Liberty holding treasure and spear in front of U.S. shield and torch with small eagle and shields on either side, text and underprint in green and black, back is green with ornate cycloid design. This note is identical to Hessler X134F except this one is stamped "Gold Coin Certificate" in red on right vertically. It is listed as Rarity 8 (2 to 3 known). Crisp VF to XF note with a small piece of the corner tip on the UR missing. Very possibly unique and historic piece of U.S. Federal financial history. ABNC.
