Associate U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harold H. Burton Letter, with Fine Legal Content Dealing with the "Right of Expatriation." July 6, 1953, typed letter signed, on his official Supreme Court stationery. Measuring 8" x 10". Very fine but for light age yellowing. Two punch holes near left edge. Burton acknowledges receipt of an article about a man who sought the protection of one Commander Ingraham "after having merely acquired a domicile in the United States & having declared his intention of becoming a citizen." He cites his own majority court opinion in Savorgnan vs. United States, 338 U.S. 491, "which...emphasizes the traditional liberality of the United States in dealing with the right of expatriation. I referred to the fact then that, traditionally, the United States has supported the right of expatriation as a natural and inherent right of all people."
