Brandeis</B></I>- the first Jewish Justice (1915 TLS); <B>B. R. Curtis</B></I>- one of two dissenters in the <I>Dred Scott</B></I> case, defended Andrew Johnson at the impeachment proceedings (10 page 1866 LS); <B>Mahlon Pitney</B></I> (1912 ALS); <B>Horace H. Lurton</B></I>- served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War (Signature as Justice); <B>Robert H. Jackson</B></I>- chief U.S. prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials (2 Signatures on Supreme Court cards); <B>Harold H. Burton</B></I> (TLS on Senate letterhead); <B>Hugo L. Black</B></I>- the fourth longest-serving Justice in U.S. history (Signature on Supreme Court card); and <B>David Davis</B></I>- appointed by Abraham Lincoln to the Court (1881 Signature as Illinois senator).
