U.S. Springfield trapdoor rifle, top of trapdoor marked 1870 with eagle head over crossed arrows above US, .50 cal., 32-1/2” barrel, full wood stock, iron cleaning rod, leather sling marked “S. STORRS, MAKER, N.YORK CITY”, #44270. This gun is in overall very good to fine condition with bright barrel, muted blue receiver and silvery toned trapdoor, lockplate and hammer with traces of original case colors; fine bore, crispaction, sharp markings, fine wood stock with 4 separate inspector’s cartouches on the left side of the stock opposite the lockplate; sling is overall very good; one of the best we’ve seen in some time.
