U.S. Springfield flintlock rifle dated 1811, .69 cal., 44” barrel, wood stock. This early U.S. flintlock is in overall very good condition showing a light brown patina to metal surfaces with scattered points of erosion and light pitting, “VP” and eagle head proofs on left side of barrel at breech; partially visible eagle on lock plate under moderate pitting, “Springfield” visible and “1811” on both the lock plate and the top of the iron butt plate and wood stock; the action is good, the bore is fair. The three barrel bands are present including the front band with its integrated sight, both sling swivels are present and the flared iron ramrod is present. The wood stock is in overall very good condition showing scattered nicks, mars and scratches from carry and storage. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
