U.S. Springfield Trapdoor Model 1877 saddle ring carbine, .45-70 cal., 22” barrel, wood half stock, trapdoor for cleaning rod in butt plate with three piece cleaning rod, sling swivel on front barrel band, #88105. This gun is in overall good condition showing lots of use but uncleaned and the way collectors like to find them; dark patina on barrel with scattered areas of light erosion, silvery toning of case hardening to trapdoor andlockplate; crisp action, fair + bore, wood shows lots of scattered old mars and dings from years of carry and storage, remnants of oval inspector’s cartouche on left side of stock behind saddle ring bar and V, P andeagle head proofs on left side of barrel at breech. The Model 1877 was manufactured between 1877 and 1878 with only approx. 25,500 produced Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
