This M2 rifle is an improved version of the Model 1922 M1 that features an altered firing mechanism with faster lock time, round knurled cocking knob added to the bolt and a flush fitting detachable magazine with improved feeding. Considered to be one of the most accurate and best made .22 caliber rifles manufactured prior to the close of WWII. These rifles were used primarily as training rifle throughout the war and during the post-war years. The top of the receiver is marked "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / CAL. .22 M2", the left side of the barrel at the breech is marked "LONG RIFLE / CART'GE ONLY", and it is marked "SA / flaming ordnance bomb / 10-38" at the muzzle. The bolt is marked "M2" at the rear and electro penciled to match and the top of the bolt handle is marked "M2". The rifle has the original Lyman 48 micrometer rear sight and ramped blade front sight. One-piece pistol grip stock with finger grooves in the forearm with a circled "P" in the grip area, boxed "S.A." on the left side behind the grip area and checkered steel buttplate.

Condition: Arsenal refurbished with 99% of the Arsenal parkerized finish remaining. The front sight band shows wear and scratches, probably front a sight cover and there are a couple minor scuffs on the front receiver ring. The stock shows a few overall scattered minor dings and scratches. The markings are clear and crisp. The action is excellent.
