Manufactured in late 1915, this example is marked "S A/flaming bomb/12- 15" behind the standard front sight. The rear sight is the standard model with the 2,850 yard volley notch. The bolt is marked with the steel lot code "S" on the underside of the safety lug. The tang of the floor plate is stamped with "N.R.A./flaming bomb" to denote it was sold through the DCM to NRA members. Mounted on a smooth walnut straight grip stock with grasping grooves, 1 reinforcing bolt, a "J.S.A." cartouche on the left wrist, a circled "P" proofmark on the underside of the wrist and a checkered steel buttplate. With a Rock Island Arsenal Model 1905 bayonet dated 1906 and scabbard stamped "R.I.A./1906/E.H.S." on the back.

Very fine, 70% plus of the original blue finish remains with some scattered minor scratches and high edge wear along with some patches of black oxidation on the barrel bands. The lightly sanded stock is very good with scattered minor dings and scratches and a small 1 inch hairline crack at the top of the wrist. Mechanically fine. The bayonet is very good with a generally bright appearance having a few small spots of discoloration and scattered minor scratches. The scabbard is good with scratches, indentions and some flaking.
