U.S. Springfield Model 1888 Trapdoor Rifle with Ramrod Bayonet

Blade front and Buffington "R" rear sights, with the "V/P/Eagle Head/P" inspection marks on the left rear side of the barrel and "A" on top. Low arch breechblock, marked "U.S./MODEL/1884", two click tumbler and lock plate marked "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" and eagle motif. Smooth straight grip short wrist stock, with sling swivels, "SWP/1891" cartouche on the left, a small "G.C" and a serifed "P" stamped behind the trigger guard, and a "US" marked buttplate. Blue steel ramrod bayonet, 35 1/2 inches overall, 16 5/8 inches extended, screw-on ramrod head, and a "US./MOD.1879" marked multitool.

Very fine, with 85% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, scattered handling marks and mild spotting. Bright case colors are present on the breechblock and tang, strongest on the breechblock. Stock is very fine, with some dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
