U.S. Springfield Model 1886 Experimental trapdoor carbine, .45-70 cal., 24” barrel, wood stock, saddle bar and ring, rear sight with XC mark on leaf, #337355. This scarce variation is in overall very good conditionshowing a plum brown patina on metal surfaces, good bore, crisp action, good markings and overall good wood with some scattered mars and a couple old cracks around the receiver; circle P proof and SWP/1886cartouche on the left side of stock above trigger; approx. 1,000 produced.
