U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Carbine
Blade front and fully adjustable "C" marked Buffington rear sight, with "V/ P/eagle head/P" on the left side near the breech. Low arch breechblock, marked "U.S./ MODEL/ 1884" with a two piece trigger guard, serrated trigger and three click tumbler. The saddle ring is absent from the bar on the left side of the stock, next to the "SWP/ 1889" cartouche, with a script circle "P" proof behind the trigger guard and a smooth buttplate with storage compartment.

Condition: Very good.. The barrel has turned a mixed brown patina with scattered handling marks, bright wear along the high edges and a small amount of spotting. Traces of original casehardened colors remain on the breechblock and lock, strongest and brightest in the protected areas of the block. Stock is good, with dents and chips. Mechanically excellent. The barrel band is incorrect as it should have the hump sight projector.
