U.S. Springfield Model 1879 “Trapdoor” carbine, .45-70 cal., 22” barrel, blue & case hardened finish, wood stock, steel butt plate with trap and cleaning rod/shell extractor kit in butt, #139124 in overall very good condition showing a brownpatina to the barrel, muted blue finish to the lock plate and hammer, traces of case color on the receiver and “trapdoor”, crisp action and markings, good bore, overall good wood with some scattered mars and scratches from carry andstorage; faint circle P proof behind trigger guard and a faint inspector’s cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger assembly.
