The correct Model 1879 pattern rear sight is marked with a "C" (carbine) on the left side, and the left side of the barrel is stamped with "V / P / eagle head / P" proof and inspection marks. Low arch breechblock marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1873" and the lock plate marked "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD " ahead of the eagle motif. "U.S." marked buttplate with cleaning rod compartment (rod not included). The oil finished walnut stock has the standard sling bar and ring on the left side. A very faint inspection mark is stamped on the left wrist, with a circled script "P" behind the trigger guard.

Condition: Very good as arsenal refurbished. The carbine retains 40% armory blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The breechblock is a faded armory blue with half remaining. There is some scattered minor pitting. The stock is also very good with a few small chips absent around the saddle bar base and a couple minor dents on the forearm, along with some minor handling marks.
