The lock plate has the eagle/shield motif with "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" and the breech block is marked "U.S./MODEL/1873." Hammer with two notch tumbler, "C" marked rear sight graduated to 1,500 yards with base graduated "1-8" and "V/P/Eagle Head/P" proof and inspection marks on left side of barrel. Stock with saddle bar with ring and "US" marked buttplate tang.

Very good as arsenal refurbished. The carbine retains traces of blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a smooth brown patina with some scattered light spotting. The lock plate and hammer retain 40% faded blue finish. The breech block retains traces of case colors with some minor pitting. The stock is also very good with a series of shallow gouges on the buttstock (right side) and some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
