U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor rifle with Metcalfe experimental cartridge metal attachment (Metcalfe block not included), .45-70 cal., 32-5/8” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, high arch breech block, wood stock, iron cleaning rod, #55793. This gun is in overall very good condition showing considerable original muted blue finish to barrel, silvery toning to receiver and lockplate with very good bore and markings, crisp action and very good wood with clear circle P proof and clear β€œESA” cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger; some scattered mars and scratches with a dime sized ding on the right side of the fore stock behind the front barrel band; considerable original blue remains on the metal retaining device present on the right side of the stock to secure a Metcalfe experimental cartridge wood block. A good ’73 Trapdoor with scarce appendage. From an old estate. Est.: $650-$1,300.
