Blade front and three-leaf rear sights, with "V/P/eagle head" on the upper left breech flat. The lock is marked "1863" behind the hammer, eagle with shield and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" ahead. Smooth, straight wrist stock, with "U" marked barrel bands, a black leather sling and "US" marked buttplate. With a 17 1/2 inch triangular spike bayonet, marked "U.S".

Condition: Poor, with an artificial mixed patina and pitting on the steel. The barrel has been restored to .65 caliber smoothbore. Stock is fair, heavily sanded with chips, dents and scuffs overall, along with a hole in the top of the wrist. Bayonet is fair, pitted. Mechanically very good.
