U.S. Springfield Model 1855 Percussion Rifle-Musket Dated 1860 with Bayonet

The lock plate is dated 1860 at the rear and has the "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" marking at the front with the eagle motif on the lid of the Maynard tape primer compartment. The barrel and barrel tang have no visible markings. Blade front sight and three leaf rear sight marked "1", "3" and "5". The full length stock has three barrel bands marked with the letter "U", patch box on right side and "US" marked buttplate. An iron ramrod and "US" marked bayonet are included with the pre-Civil War long gun.

Poor. The barrel, buttplate and patch box have a smooth dark patina with the remaining metal surfaces having a bright appearance. There is some minor pitting (heavier at the breech of the barrel). The stock is fair with a few repairs, some surface chipping, two sets of initials hand marked on the buttstock and some minor pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
