Blade front and three leaf rear sights, with "65" on the tang. Lock plate is marked "U.S./ SPRINGFIELD" at the front, American eagle on the Maynard primer door, and "1855" at the rear. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a swiveling ramrod, brass furniture, faint cartouche and iron back strap with stock slots. The buttstock has brass furniture and an iron sling swivel, with "5" on the underside of the tang and "US" on the heel of the buttplate. With a partial strip of primers.

Condition: Fair with a mixed brown patina overall. Heavy pitting is present around the nipple. The second sight leaf is broken off, and some markings are lost to pitting. The bored out barrel has a replaced swivel ramrod assembly. Stock is fair with a few cracks visible on the left side and around the lock plate, dents from the buttstock and scattered handling marks. Buttstock is a fair reproduction which has been revarnished, with pressure dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
