U.S. Springfield Model 1807 Percussion Converted Rifle
Also known as the Indian Carbine, this is a converted flintlock rifle produced on order from the Indian Department to be issued as gifts to friendly tribes. Additionally the base weapon was one of the first rifles produced by the U.S. Arsenal system. Barrel is slightly shortened, with a fixed blade sight and "P/ eagle head/ V" proofs on the left side. The lock plate is dated "1808" at the rear and marked "US/ eagle/ SPRINGFIELD" next to the conversion bolster. Full length straight grip stock with brass furniture, wood ramrod (tip absent), "US" stamped opposite the lock and a brass buttplate dated "1810" on the heel.

Condition: Good, with a smooth dark patina on the steel, with pitting. The brass shows a fine aged patina. A few cracks, chips and scratches are visible on the stock, with mild dings. Mechanically good.
