U.S. Springfield M1D Sniper Rifle with Scope, Boxes, and United States Marine Corps Markings
Originally produced in May of 1943, this rifle was upgraded to the M1D sniper configuration with a Korean War era 1952 Springfield barrel, and at some point passing through a U.S.M.C. Logistics Base to be rebuilt for Marine use. These barrels were produced for 13 months starting January 1952. Blade front and adjustable peep sights, with "DRC" on the windage drum and "O-66". Barrel is properly dated "S-A-4-52", with Springfield bolt, hammer, trigger housing and a Harrington & Richardson operating rod. Smooth stock, with "S.A./ J.L.G." and Ordnance stamps on the left side, a circled "P" on the pistol grip, lace-on cheekpiece marked "MRT 8-58" properly screwed into place and a checkered buttplate. With a M-84 telescope, numbered "40382" with sunshields, U.S. Hart Manufacturing M2 flash hider, "MRT" marked green canvas scope case with original shipping box (shipped from the Rock Island Arsenal).

Condition: Excellent as arsenal overhauled, with 99% of the parkerized finish, showing a darker color on the gas tube and some minor handling marks. Stock is excellent, with mild scratches and pressure dents. Boxes are fine, with some wear and tear. Cheekpiece has some light scuffs, and the optics are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
