U.S. Springfield M1D Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle with Sling and Cheekpiece
This is a nice example of a M1 Garand rifle that was converted into the desirable M1D Sniper rifle. Built around a standard M1 receiver, the defining characteristic is the special barrel, produced with an integral scope block just ahead of the receiver. Barrels of this type were produced by Springfield from Jan 1952 to Feb 1953, with the conversion itself performed at the Springfield Armory. Standard fixed sights, with the windage drum marked "DRC", Springfield barrel marked "SA-1-52", Springfield operating rod, bolt, trigger group housing, hammer, trigger guard and safety. Smooth stock with "SA" cartouche, a black leather sling, and a leather lace-on cheekpiece marked "MRT/ 2 52" on the right side.

Excellent, as arsenal refinished, with 98% of the black finish, showing some fading on and around the gas tube and mild handling marks overall. Stock is very good, showing some mild pressure dents and a slightly undersized buttplate. There is a small import mark on the underside of the chamber area of the barrel. It is missing the mid scope mount and scope. Mechanically excellent.
