Made in June of 1943. Blade and peep sights, with Battle Range drum and locking bar. Fitted with a Springfield "3-S-A-5-43" barrel, Springfield bolt, trigger housing, hammer and operating rod. Smooth stock, with a circled "P" and "44" on the pistol grip, "S.A./ FMcF" and Defense cartouches on the left side, brown leather sling and checkered buttplate. Notes from the consignor state that this arm was part of the collection of James E. "Mac" McCollum, noted Garand researcher, collector and shooter.

Condition: Very fine, with 90% of the slightly thin original parkerized finish, showing bright wear on the gas cylinder and scattered light handling marks overall. Stock is very good, with some chipping on the right side near the floor plate and operating rod, a small filled area below the operating rod and scattered dents. Light cracking of the sling. Mechanically excellent.
