The receiver was originally produced in August of 1943, and was later re-barreled with a new SA/H&R barrel chambered for the 7.62mm NATO cartridge. Blade and adjustable peep sights, with "BATTLE RANGE" elevation knob and locking bar. Springfield barrel dated SA "5 65". Directly below and to the rear of that it is hand stamped "H&R P 7.62 NATO" indicating conversion was performed by the H&R company. Fitted with a Springfield bolt, Winchester trigger guard, Springfield hammer, trigger group housing and operating rod. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a circled "P" on the grip, tan leather "MRT/ 12-86" stamped sling, and a checkered metal buttplate. With a cardboard shipping box and a U.S. Navy requisition form from the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center (Crane Division) to Gunners Mate First Class Thomas Damrow of Waterford, CT for this rifle. Research shows GMG1 Damrow, USN, as a Distinguished Pistol Badge winner, All-Navy Pistol Silver Medalist and Navy Pistol Team member in 1995.

Condition: Excellent as arsenal refurbished, showing 98% of the parkerized finish, with light scratches on the barrel and mild handling marks overall. Stock is fine, with pressure dents and scratches. Mild wear on the sling, with the box showing tape marks and dings appropriate to use. Mechanically excellent.
