U.S. Springfield M1 Garand Rifle, Secretary of the Navy Mark 2 Mod I Grade B National Match Trophy R
Produced in March of 1945, and later rechambered for the 7.62mm NATO cartridge. Blade and adjustable peep sights, with "DRC" windage knob and locking bar. Springfield barrel dated "8 65", with "7. 62 MM" stamped on the lower right side. Fitted with a Springfield bolt marked "200", "72", "1421" and "1790" in electric pencil, "1790" numbered floor plate, Springfield hammer and trigger group housing and a "NM" marked Remington Arms operating rod. Smooth pistol grip stock numbered to match the gun, with fiberglass bedded receiver section and a checkered metal buttplate. With a cardboard shipping box, post-rework hanging tag, weapon record book signed by the same inspector as the tag and a U.S. Navy requisition form from the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center (Crane Division) to Chris Sullivan of Leonardtown, MD for this rifle, with specific notation of being awarded for the "High Reservist Rifle Match/ 1999 Atlantic Fleet Match". Research shows Commander Sullivan, US and USNR, as 2-time winner of the Adm. Arleigh Burke Trophy, National Match gold medalist and recipient of the "President's 100" award.

Condition: Excellent as arsenal refurbished, with 99% parkerized finish remaining, showing a few small areas of bright wear and minimal handling marks. Stock is very good, with contrasting wood forearm, light pressure dents and scratches. Box shows wear and tape removal. Mechanically excellent.
