Action in Model 1879 Carbine with Model 1884 sight and breechbolt. Proof marked "V, P" over the Eagle Head proof on the left rear portion then over a smaller "P" and the number "259" marked next to it on top of the barrel. The serial number is stamped on the rear of the receiver ahead of the tang. Front fixed sight with Buffington rear adjustable sight, a metal barrel band and rear sight protector. The breech block is the low arch model is marked "US/Model 1884" along with "FOX STUDIOS". The lock plate is marked "US/SPRINGFIELD" next to the American Eagle. "FOX" is also marked on the left side of the receiver. The stock has a saddle ring and bar mounted on the left side. Steel buttplate has trap door. (cleaning rod not included)

Condition: Poor as assembled, barrel is gray patina with the breech area having a more solid color. There is some pitting on the barrel surface. Case colors are a gray mixture. The stock is about good with scratches and pressure dents, along with some crude markings on both sides and two filled holes on the left side. The action is crisp.
