This is a very fine example of an original U.S. Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol that was manufactured by Springfield Armory in late 1914. This is one of 11,285 Model 1911 pistols manufactured by the Springfield Armory between 1913 and 1914. These 1911 Springfield Armory pistols were the only official US side arm to ever have been manufactured by a Government Armory. The pistol has the distinctive dull blue finish utilized by Springfield Armory, coarse checkered walnut grips with large diamond panels and the Springfield, two tone, lanyard loop magazine with flanges that fold over the magazine base. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Springfield Armory Eagle and Shield motif behind the ejection port and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY" ahead of it. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the 1897-1911patent dates above: "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG. CO." in three lines followed by "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A." in two lines. The Ordnance ''Shell and Flame'' insignia is roll-stamped on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations. The serial number, "No83076" is stamped on the right side of the receiver behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the receiver is roll-stamped: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" ahead of the trigger guard bow and stamped with the 'Shell and Flame" final inspection mark above the magazine release. The early WWI replacement barrel has dull faded blue finish and is marked with only a single block letter "P" proof on top of the rear section of the chamber with no other markings on the barrel. The following other parts are correctly marked with the small letter "s" indicating they were produced by Springfield Armory; hammer, grip safety, mainspring housing, trigger, sear, disconnector, magazine release button and slide stop. The other part the 1914 pattern moderately thin thumb safety looks to be of a Springfield Armory manufacture however it is unmarked but appear original to the pistol. The only other piece not marked is the barrel bushing, which may have been replaced at the same time the barrel was, however again both appear to have been on the pistol for some time.

Condition: Very fine overall with 80% plus of the original Springfield Armory blue finish remaining on the pistol with finish loss on the grip straps, with general light thinning on the rest of the pistol, but still all original. The walnut grips are in very good plus condition with nice checkering on both sides showing honest original, light wear across the tops of the checkering with no cracks or damage. There is some light scratches/dings under the slide stop. As noted this has the majority of the original parts with the barrel appearing to be an honest original early replacement parts. These are extremely rare to find today in original condition.
