This excellent original U.S. Model 1911 Automatic Pistol was manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1915. This is one of 25,767 M1911 pistols manufactured by the Springfield Armory between 1913 and 1915. The pistol has the distinctive dull blue finish utilized by Springfield Armory, coarse checkered walnut grips with large diamond panels and the Springfield, two tone, lanyard loop magazine with flanges that fold over the magazine base. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Springfield Armory Eagle and Shield motif behind the ejection port and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY" ahead of it. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the 1897-1911patent dates above: "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG. CO." in three lines followed by "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A." in two lines. The Ordnance 'Shell and Flame' insignia is roll-stamped on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations. The serial number, "No83111" is stamped on the right side of the receiver behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the receiver is roll-stamped: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" ahead of the trigger guard bow and stamped with the 'Shell and Flame" final inspection mark above the magazine release. The barrel has a dull blue finish and is properly stamped with the Springfield "S" mark on the left side of the lug. "S" is stamped on the right side of the short hammer and on the inside of the slide stop,

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 90% plus of the correct original, armory rust blue finish. There is moderate holster wear on the forward edges of the slide and the contact points of the receiver. The blue is slightly thin and shows handling wear on the main spring housing. grip safety and grip straps. The sides of the slide and receiver have scattered, minor, handling marks and scratches. The markings are clear. The grips are in very fine condition with moderate handling wear. The magazine is in excellent condition and retains more than 85% of the original two-tone finish. This an excellent original example of a desirable U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1911 Automatic Pistol. This fills a void in most U.S. Military collections very well!
