U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903 National Match Bolt Action Rifle with Lyman 48 Rear Signer
This is an original example of a Model 1903 National Match rifle as produced in 1921 for the 1922 national matches. Representing the pinnacle of Springfield 1903 production, these National Match rifles were virtually hand built using selected, minimum tolerance parts by the Springfield Armory armorers, in particular featuring star gauge barrels, hand polished receivers and select walnut stocks. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with "SA/ bomb/ LO-21" on the barrel behind the front sight, the correct "star gauge" marking on the muzzle. Star gauge number "5173" stamped on the top of the barrel in front of the rear sight. Correct National Match receiver, with polished "WL/3" bolt and follower, and a Lyman 48 receiver sight with military assembly numbers mounted to the right side opposite the magazine cutoff and course checkered buttplate. Straight grip "S" stock with grasping grooves, a boxed "D.A.L." cartouche on the left side, " P" proof mark on the underside of grip, fitted with a reproduction brown leather "T.S. CO." marked sling.
