Blade front sight which also acts as the bayonet lug and two leaf rear sight with a breechblock dated "1866". The 1864 dated lock plate has the "eagle/shield" motif and marked "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD". The stock has a "HJH" inspection proof on the left flat with a "US" marked buttplate and a canvas sling. With a socket bayonet.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel, barrel bands, buttplate, and trigger guard have been cleaned with areas of light oxidation and brown patina. The lock plate and hammer retain 60% original case colors and the breech block retains 95% original dark oil quenched casehardening. The stock is also very fine with some minor dings, scratches, and pressure dents. There are numerous minor pressure dents on the left stock flat and a shallow long gash on the forearm (right side). The bayonet has a smooth brown patina with minor pitting.
