U.S. Springfield 1810 dated flintlock musket, .70 cal., 45” barrel. This early flintlock Springfield is in overall good condition showing a brown patina on metal surfaces, fair bore, good action and markings, proofs on left side of barrel at breech; steel butt plate is also dated 1810; barrel at breech shows some light to moderate erosion and pitting from firing as does the lock plate just beneath the pan. The wood is good overall with scattered nicks, mars and scratches from carry and storage and an old letter “M” carved into the bottom of the stock just in front of the trigger guard; ramrod is retained.
