Manufactured from 1861 to 1865. The receiver is numbered to the gun and marked with the American Machine Works, Smith's Patent and Poultney & Trimble markings on the left side. Brass blade front and folding ladder rear sights, saddle ring and bar mounted on the left side of the frame and "LFR" stamped on the left barrel flat at the breech. Mounted with a smooth straight grip stock with "GR" and "JH" script cartouches on the left side of the wrist and a carbine buttplate.

Condition: Very fine. The carbine retains 60% plus faded original blue finish with minor spotting. The receiver retains 75% plus original case colors. The wood is also very fine with some extensive scattered handling marks and some chipping at the frame juncture top left wrist. The cartouches are crisp. Mechanically fine.
