Manufactured circa 1861-1865. Marked with the American Machine Works, Smith's Patent and Poultney & Trimble markings on the left side of the frame. Brass blade front, folding ladder rear sights, "L.F.R." marked on the left rear barrel flat, saddle ring and bar mounted on the left side of the frame and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a clear "JH" oval cartouche and large "29" on the left wrist and iron carbine buttplate.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have brown and gray patina, with overall light to moderate pitting, heaviest on the saddle ring and bar, trigger guard and buttplate. The wood is very good with raised feathered grain, scattered minor dents and dings associated with a gun of this age. The markings remain clear. Mechanically excellent.
