U.S. Simeon North Model 1819 Flintlock Pistol
Manufactured by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut between 1819 and 1823. The Model 1819 Pistol features a unique, sliding safety bolt located behind the hammer and featured the introduction of the swivel type steel ramrod. The dated lock plate is undated and marked with an eagle with a "U" and "S" on either side, "S.NORTH" in a downward arc above the eagle and "MIDLTN CONN." in an upward arc below. The left side of the barrel is marked "JDJ / P / US" at the breech. The barrel has a brass front sight blade and oval rear sight located on the barrel tang. The lock plate is beveled at the front and rounded at the rear. The left stock flat has an illegible cartouche.

Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have a dark brown patina with some moderate pitting on the muzzle end of the barrel and scattered small areas of minor pitting. The stock is also very good with a small gouge just below and to the rear of the lock and overall minor dents and dings. The action needs minor work, as the hammer does not discharge when the trigger is pulled. The markings are clear.
