This example was manufactured between 1863 and 1865. It was later converted to centerfire by Sharps circa 1867. There is a German silver blade front sight and an elevation adjustable ladder rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked with the three-line address marking and with the "NEW MODEL 1863" marking. The left side of the barrel is marked at the breech "M.N.M.". There is an "M" stamped on the left side of the receiver, an "M" on the side of the lever lock, an "E" on the underside of the lever and a "C" on the breech end of the barrel. Mounted on a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with boxed "EF" script cartouche just above the sling bar, a "DFC" cartouche in a banner on the left side of the buttstock and a smooth steel buttplate.

Fine as refurbished and converted by Sharps, 30% of the blue finish remains with a mottled gray/brown patina on the balance. The casehardened components retain 40% of the case colors mostly in the protected areas. The lever and hammer have some moderate discoloration with minor pitting. The wood is fine with a moderate chip on the forearm around the screw along with scattered minor scratches and dings. Mechanically fine.
