MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 418673. Bbl. 24". Blued steel barrel is unmarked. Rifle appears to be assembled by Sedgley using many parts cast from inexpensive alloy. Sight base is marked on left side w/ encircled "S". Alloy parts include the buttplate, floorplate, rear sight ladder & swivels. The ladder rear sight is graduated to 2,850 yards & is equipped w/ a volley notch. Dished early sight knobs. Blade front sight. Bolt w/ straight-down handle is unmarked. Early walnut stock set w/ straight grip single recoil bolt & high hump handguard w/o reinforcing clips. Upper band is from Model 1917 rifle. Brown leather military style sling. CONDITION: unmarked stock set has added gloss finish. Cutoff recess has been enlarged. Metal retains 75% of its blue/black arsenal rework finish. Alloy parts have notable flaking & loss of finish. Very good shiny bore. (25-2963/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
