RIFLE W/ M84 TELESCOPIC SIGHT IN POST WAR MOUNT. Cal. 30-06. S# 3139383. Bbl. 24" marked “S-A-10-52”. Throat & muzzle gauges are 4.0. Adjustable aperture rear sight. Blade front sight w/ wide protective ears. Bbl., bolt, operating rod, trigger housing & hammer are marked “SA”. Stamped trigger guard. After market blued steel slotted flash suppressor. Cross slot gas cyl. lock screw. Unmarked walnut stock set. Rear handguard appears correctly modified. Unmarked early Model 1907 sling. Rifle has reproduction M1D bbl. mounted scope base. Base alignment pin is proud of the mount surface & is not staked. Base is not mounted correctly in relation to the receiver. This, in turn, does not allow the scope mount to be positioned & tightened correctly. Rear screw hole in mount is drilled through which was not done on original mounts. Original M84 telescopic sight is marked on the right side “TELESCOPE M84” & “S# 6164”. The scope has vintage rubber eyecup. Sliding sunshield & hinged square turret caps. Non tapered post w/ crosshair reticle. CONDITION: buttstock has arsenal rework type finish w/ wear, staining & handling marks w/ notable loss of wood in inletted areas. Handguards have original appearance w/ light wear & handling marks. Metal has light wear, scattered handling marks & spots of missing finish w/ a mix of arsenal rework & original Parkerized finishes. Scope has significant loss of original blue finish w/ wear turning patina. Optics appear slightly cloudy but serviceable. Scope, mount & base need gunsmith attention to correct alignment problems. Sling has notable wear, flexing & scuffing. Good shiny bore w/ sharp lands. (22-4177/RW). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
