These pistols were manufactured in their own block of numbers from 1 to 21676 in late 1918 and early 1919. This pistol is a 1918 production. The left side of the slide is marked with two three line blocks "PATENTED DEC. 19. 1905 / FEB. 14. 1911. AUG. 19. 1913. / COLT'S PT. F.A.MFG.CO." and "MANUFACTURED BY / REMINGTON ARMS U M C CO. INC. / BRIDGEPORT. CONN. U.S.A." with "REMINGTON / UMC" in a circle between the two blocks. The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "E.E.C." and eagle head over "E 28" proofs. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 / U.S. ARMY CALIBER .45". The barrel is blue with a "P" stamped on the chamber, and there is the letter "E" stamped on the top of the hammer slot. Flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop on the butt, unmarked two tone magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips with the diamond pattern around the screw.
BBL: 5 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 45 ACP
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 12802
Condition: Professionally restored with 95% blue finish remaining. The slide shows some signs of being "aged back" with an abrasive material and the grip straps are also thinning (through a similar process), showing some gray patina. The grips are excellent with a few light handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. Still, a fine representative example of a Remington UMC Model 1911 Pistol.
