This is an example of a Remington Model 1917 rifle with Remington Model 1917 Bayonet, scabbard and Model 1907 russet leather sling. The rifle has the original deep blue finish with black walnut stock and handguard. The receiver is marked: "U.S. / MODEL OF 1917 / REMINGTON" over the serial number. The barrel is marked "R / ordnance bomb / 9-18". The ordnance bomb is also stamped on the left side of the receiver rail and on the top of the bolt handle. The provisional "Eagle Head" Ordnance inspection mark is stamped in two places on the top of the receiver rail and on the floor plate hardware. The "R" (Remington) identification mark is stamped on the rear sight leaf, on the bolt handle, front sight blade and front sight stud and an "E" is stamped on the cocking knob. The stock forend tip has a small plate hammered into it "22". The bottom of the stock ahead of and behind the trigger guard are stamped "4 / E" and "E / 4" respectively with the addition of a "S" in the grip area. The left side of the stock above the trigger guard is stamped "RA-P". The rifle is fitted with a WWI Model 1907 leather sling with brass fittings. The Model 1917 Bayonet has the original two-tone finish with gray-phosphate blade and blued ricasso, hilt and guard. The two-piece walnut grip has two vertical grasping grooves. The obverse of the blade is dated "1917" over "REMINGTON" in a circle. The reverse is stamped with the 'Shell and Flame' above "U.S." and a eagle head inspection mark. The bayonet scabbard has a green leather body with blued steel tip and throat, stamped "M.F.W.".

Very fine. The barrel has a smooth gray patina. The receiver retains 90% original blue finish with high edge wear and much fading. The trigger guard and buttplate have a smooth silver gray patina with a number of minor dings in the buttplate. The floor plate is a mix of smooth plum and original blue finish. The stock is very good with scattered minor dings and dents. The sling is good with some wear and age cracking. The bayonet is fine with almost all of the original two tone finish remaining and a few minor pressure dents in the handle. The scabbard is very good with a brown patina on the tip and throat, a white scuff on the leather and some minor dents. Mechanically excellent.
