U. S. Remington Model 1863 percussion rifle, .58 cal., 33” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, brass patchbox, trigger guard, butt plate, barrel bands and fore end tip, wood stock. This martially inspected rifle is in overall excellent condition showing approx. 92% original blue finish on barrel, silvery lock plate and hammer where the case color has gone from exposure; very good bore, crisp action, both lock plate and barrel are dated ‘1863” and the barrel is “VP” and eagle head proofed with “R.K.A.” inspector stamp on left barrel flat at breech; the wood is in overall excellent condition showing a couple scattered mars and scratches and a very well defined inspector’s cartouche on the left side just above the trigger assembly; the barrel displays its bayonet lug and a steel ramrod.
